From Goldsboro on the 70East Bypass, take a Right at the light past Wilbur's BBQ. Go through the next 3 traffic lights, and the School sits on the Right, just past the light.
Goldsboro School of Ballet, established in 1980 now operates at 782 NC Hwy 111 South with two dance floors. Dance training is offered from ages 3 and up. Proper grooming and dance attire is required. All teachers are certified to teach. The School offers pre-ballet for the youngest children starting dance at ages 3 or 4;Pre-Dance program, offering ballet and tap within the hour. Ballet classes are extended to 45-minutes then the one hour classes at ages 6 and 7. From ages 7 on up ballet programming is extended to twice a week, adding tap or jazz as recommended. Tumbling/basic gymnastics is also offered from ages 5 on up. New teens/adults can join a basic ballet class for interest and exercise. Classes are available from 3:45 - 8:45 Monday - Thursdays and have recently added a Tuesday 2:00 - 2:45 pre-ballet class.
Mrs. Peggy Wingate, Founding Owner/Director, has a Master's Degree in Elementary Teaching and is certified to teach ballet through the Cecchetti Council of America. She also holds a Teacher Training License through the Dance Masters of America.
Mrs. Mary W. Franklin, is now Co-Director of the School and teaches all the tap, jazz, tumbling, and some of the ballet classes. She is a certified PE Teacher and is also employed at Brogden Primary School.
The School is home of Goldsboro Civic Ballet, doing business as Goldsboro Ballet, which is a non-profit organization with
501(c)3 status. Goldsboro Ballet is the affiliate of Arts Council.
