About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro Wayne exists to share God's love by bringing people together to address substandard housing by working with families to help as they strive to build their own stability, their own strength and their own self-reliance through shelter. Habitat Goldsboro-Wayne believes that permanent, stable and affordable shelter can be the key to future financial, health, educational and employment well-being and security.

Habitat is not a give-away program. Homeowners qualify based on their low- to moderate-income status and housing need, and their ability to pay an affordable mortgage and willingness to perform at least 300 hours of sweat equity.

Unfortunately there is a need in Wayne County for Habitat for Humanity. Goldsboro, which ranked the fifth poorest community in the nation by the U.S. Census Bureau's 2014 American Community Survey, also has an extraordinarily high fair market rental price, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. That HUD rate is $976, which is about $500 more than what Habitat's affordable mortgages run for the same three-bedroom/two-bathroom unit.

But Habitat Goldsboro-Wayne is only able to build houses thanks to the volunteer and donor support we receive from the community. If you'd like to join us, just call us at 919-736-9592, email volunteer@habitatgoldsboro.org or visit www.habitatgoldsboro.org. You can also check out our ReStore, the proceeds from which help fund our efforts. We are a 501(c)3 so donations are tax deductible.
