Wayne Opportunity Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit, community-based rehabilitation facility, providing Adult Developmental Vocational Program (ADVP) and Innovations Waiver (CAP) services to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The facility offers choices to persons served. This is achieved through community integration and employment services while assisting public and private industry.
The ADVP programs consist of a pre-vocational and a basic life skills programs. Individuals in the pre-vocational program perform diverse job training activities through subcontract work with industry in the Wayne County, as well as, its own recycling, shredding, furniture refinishing, and woodworking departments. Consumers earn training wages while enrolled in the programs and receive support services to assist them to become financially stable. The basic life skills program offers training to individuals to assist them in becoming as independent as possible. Training includes basic academics, personal care, domestic care, social/leisure activities and arts/crafts. Individuals have the opportunity to work on the mobile cleaning crew which goes out in the community daily to perform janitorial duties for local businesses.
The Innovations Waiver (CAP) program offers one-on-one assistance for consumers to participate in daily life activities and day program services. Individuals may choose to work a portion of their day and utilize community resources to gain maximum independence.
